Ways to Give

Each year and every year, your first gift should be to the Annual Fund. However, there are many ways to support Unity School which include: Annual Fund, Support an Event, Tribute Bricks and Columns, Employer Matching Gifts, Major Gifts for Special Purposes, Gifts Via Life Insurance, Securities, Trusts and Bequests and Amazon Smile.

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund supports all aspects of the academic, artistic, physical education, and spiritual life of our students.  Whenever a child picks up a pencil, masters a new motor skill, discovers a new way to paint, participates in drama, violin or jazz band, uses a heart lock or volunteers for service to the community, your annual gifts are uniting to support the daily mission of empowering children and inspiring learning

Support an Event

There are a variety of ways to support one of our exciting Special Events: Attendance, Sponsorship, In-Kind Donations, Family and Corporate Advertisements, and most importantly, through your participation and volunteerism.

Tribute Bricks and Columns

Donations for a decorative brick or column at the ALEC Building entryway or along the Celebration Tribute Breezeway are perfect ways to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, or other special milestone, or to honor the memory of a loved one.  Proceeds benefit the school’s campus enhancements.

Employer Matching Gifts

Many companies offer matches for gifts made by their employees to nonprofit organizations.  These gifts are a great way to increase your contribution to Unity School.  Some companies will also donate a “match” for volunteer hours served.  Your H.R. office will have the details for your company. Please inquire whether your company offers a matching gift program and secure the necessary forms to include with your gift.  Unity School will complete the process.

Major Gifts for Special Purposes

Major gifts for special purposes tend to be in amounts above $10,000.  These gifts are significant in their impact on programs benefiting students &/or faculty.  Major gifts for special purposes have been received for brick-and-mortar projects or campus enhancements, and for new technology and program development.  You will see recognition of these gifts on the Virtue Columns lining the Peace Walk and on commemorative plaques throughout the campus; others have been made anonymously or in installments over time.  Please call the Head of School or Director of Development if you would like to discuss a Major Gift to Unity School. We have a number of Naming Opportunities still available.

Gifts Via Life Insurance

You may transfer ownership of an existing life insurance policy to benefit Unity School.  The tax deduction equals approximately the current cash surrender value.  Or, you might wish to consider purchasing a new policy, making Unity School the owner and beneficiary.  In both cases, you are entitled to an income tax deduction for the premiums you pay each year.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities

Unity School gratefully accepts gifts of readily marketable, publicly traded securities.  Donors who give appreciated securities benefit in two ways.  First, you pay no capital gains tax on the amount of the increase in value.  Secondly, your income tax deduction is equal to the average price of the security on the day the gift is made. Please contact the Development Office for details.

Trusts and Bequests

Charitable Gift Trusts are an option for some families who wish to make a difference either now with a Lead Trust, or in the future with a charitable annuity.  Please contact the Head of School or the Development Director about giving through Trust instruments.  Some Unity parents have placed Unity School in their Will.  Bequests are one of the surest ways to build an endowment over time.

Amazon Smile

Shop at AmazonSmile and Amazon makes a donation to Unity  School! Amazon will give 0.5% of purchases made through Tampa Prep’s unique AmazonSmile link to the school. There’s nothing more to it than that! Once on the Amazon page, you browse, shop and purchase as you have always done!
