Community Service

In keeping with our mission of empowering children and inspiring learning by educating the entire child: mind, body and spirit, Unity Middle School places a strong emphasis on Community Service.  Studies show that students who give back to the community perform better in school, particularly in subjects such as math, reading, and history. Community service also builds social skills, instills civic responsibility, and fosters a sense of achievement.  Most importantly, it just makes students feel good to give back.

Our students have a minimum requirement of hours to complete in a school year:

6th grade must complete 10 hours minimum
7th grade must complete 15 hours minimum

8th grade must complete 20 hours minimum

Community Service opportunities are offered to students both on campus and off campus.  Service must be completed at a non-profit organization. Some opportunities are:

  • Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Clean up
  • Honor Flight
