The child has one intuitive aim: self development

Ava Romano

Hi my name is Ava Romano and I am in eighth grade.  I have been a student at Unity School for 10 years.  I have been a student athlete since fifth grade.  The sports I played were volleyball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and tennis.  My favorite sport is basketball.

Through sports I have learned many virtues which benefit my life today and will in the future.  Some of the virtues are teamwork, leadership, dedication, confidence, and perseverance to name a few.  One virtue I use each time I step on the court or field is perseverance.  Through perseverance I have learned even if I have a bad game I can still learn from it and put it behind me.

Another virtue important to me is sportsmanship.  Through sportsmanship I have learned to respect not only my teammates and their talents but other teams’ players and talents as well.  Lastly, sports have taught me how to win and lose gracefully.  I am glad I played sports at Unity School.  It afforded me the opportunity to learn some valuable lessons, which will be helpful as I go into high school.  One thing I definitely know is I will be playing sports in high school.
